Course Approval for Providers

Get a Course You Want to Give Approved

Let your attendees know you care with FPTA Course Approval! Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants take continuing education courses to advance their clinical knowledge, improve their patient care and get credit towards Florida license renewal. Use this page as a step-by-step guide to help you become a "Provider" in order to submit courses for FPTA approval.

PLEASE NOTE:  Providers submit applications for course approval through a 3rd party website called CE Broker. You must register on the CE Broker website before you can submit a course for approval to the FPTA.

Course Providers New to CE Broker

Step 1 Register to be a CE Provider on the CE Broker website.

Step 2 Choose the option Florida Department of Health.

Step 3 Scroll down on the next page for Florida Board of Physical Therapy Practice, and select register/apply now.

Step 4 You are now ready to create a Login and Password.

Submitting a New Course

Step 1 Once you have an account with CE broker, the option "Courses" should appear in the left menu bar (you may need to refresh the page if it does not appear).

Step 2 Select "Courses" from the menu on the left of the screen, then click "New Course" which will allow you to add a new course.

Step 3 Move through the required fields by hitting the "Next" button. Notice that the CE Broker system is programmed with the specific requirements of the FPTA, and Step 10 will require attaching additional documents electronically.

Annual Renewal

Courses are approved on a calendar-year basis and need to be submitted for approval yearly. For example, if you provided a course in 2020 and plan to provide it in 2021, you will need to update and resubmit the application for approval. Please remember during high volume time periods it can take six to eight weeks for processing.

Florida Board of Physical Therapy

The Florida Board of Physical Therapy is responsible for PT and PTA license renewal in Florida. Visit their website to learn about obtaining and renewing a license as well as other practice-related questions or you can reach them by phone at 850-245-4373. www.floridasphysicaltherapy.gov

License Requirements

1 hour human trafficking course to be completed by 1/1/21 per HB 851

24 CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDIT HOURS REQUIRED PER BIENNIUM

*A biennium runs from 12/1/odd year-11/30/next odd year. For example, 12/1/2019 – 11/30/2021 is a licensure biennium.

The Florida Board of PT will accept up to twelve (12) contact hours for "home study" during a biennum. This may include online courses in which there is no interaction with a presenter.

At least (12) contact hours must be "live" hours, which may include online webinars. “Live" webinars are date and time specific (happening in “real time”), and the participant must be able to interact with the presenter during the session.

No more than 5 hours may be received in the area of risk management, no more than 3 hours in HIV/AIDS.

Medical Errors 2

Medical Error courses approved by any Board within the Division of Medical Quality Assurance are approved by the Board of Physical Therapy.

HIV/AIDS 1

HIV/AIDS course required for first renewal only and are accepted if approved by any Board within the Division of Medical Quality Assurance.



 Important Deadline


The current licensure period ends November 30, 2021. This means that the 24 required continuing education hours per biennium of licensure must be met by November 30, 2021. If you are licensed in the second half of the biennium you are only required to complete a two (2) hour of medical errors course and one (1) hour of HIV.
