FPTA Awards & Honors

The FPTA is proud of the many contributions by its volunteer members. The dedication and contribution of these physical therapists and physical therapist assistants has made this association what it is today and what it will be in the future.

FPTA Service Awards

To recognize and honor these contributions, these awards have been developed and awarded throughout the years.

Award for Excellence in Academic Teaching

To acknowledge and honor an educator for excellence in academic teaching (new in 2015).

Award for Scholarly Impact on Practice

To acknowledge and honor an individual whose individual and/or collaborative scholarly activity has made a meaningful difference to clinical practice by physical therapists in Florida (new in 2015).

Emerging Leader Award

To recognize a member who demonstrates extraordinary service early in his or her physical therapy career.

Excellence in Clinical Practice Awards (New)

To recognize a Physical Therapist and a Physical Therapist Assistant who exudes outstanding clinical practice (new in 2020).

Fred Rutan Award for Excellence in Service

In recognition of a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant who has provided exceptional service on an FPTA Committee or Task Force.

Legacy Award

For services to the FPTA that will forever affect the association.

Outstanding PT/PTA Team Award

To recognize outstanding clinical collaboration between a physical therapist/ physical therapist assistant (PT/PTA) team (new in 2015).

Outstanding Student Awards (New)

To acknowledge and honor a Student Physical Therapist and Student PTA who exhibit superior scholastic achievement (new in 2020).

Rick Shutes Award for Legislative Advocacy

For exceptional service in governmental advocacy on behalf of FPTA.

FPTA Grants

Catherine E Patla Community Awareness Grant

This award is committed to assisting Florida physical therapists and physical therapist assistants in their relations with the public and patients through community awareness of the physical therapy profession.

Linda Crane Research Grant

A grant in the amount of $10,000 awarded to a member in good standing for research in any area of physical therapy specifically relating to the APTA Guide to Physical Therapist Practice.
