Hi and welcome to the membership tier! My name is Nicole Nicholas and I am the membership tier's leader. The goal of this tier is to find, engage and encourage graduating PTs and PTAs, or PTs and PTAs within their first 5 years to join EPSIG.

Join Our Challenge

In 2015 we launched our first initiative, the FPTA PLANK CHALLENGE which was followed up in 2016 with the BALANCE CHALLENGE. Similar to the ice bucket challenge that swept social media, we encouraged PTs to post a picture of a creative plank or balance pose, respectively, and spread the word about EPSIG.

This year we plan to launch a new initiative to help promote both EPSIG JUMPING INTO PRACTICE. This new challenge will be to post a picture or video of you JUMPING. Submissions will be monitored via Twitter, Instagram and facebook from the Fall conference 2017 until the Spring conference 2018. To participate post your submission along with the following paragraph:

#jumpintopracticewithEPSIG The FPTA’s Early Professional Special Interest group is here to promote membership, mentorship, networking, professional development and leadership to help YOU achieve your professional goals. We are giving away A FREE YEAR membership. Post a picture or video of you “jumping into practice” and challenge two more Physical Therapists or Physical Therapy Assistants. I challenge ____ and ____! MAKE YOUR POST PUBLIC in order to be eligible. Copy and paste this paragraph.

Why join this tier?

We need creativity, people who are savvy with social media or anyone who has passion to spread the word about getting involved. As part of this tier you would help us launch the 2016 challenge, create hashtags and help us reach out to students and PTs who participate in the challenge. Contact me now at if you are interested. :)

A Message from member: Sarah Rivard

I am at four years a PT and I feel in some ways I am just getting to that comfortable point professionally where you feel like you have your feet solidly under you as a professional. The first couple years as a new PT are a big challenge of learning to manage the clinical curveballs in the mist of learning to manage the caseload volume that only life as a clinician can prepare you for. I think it is a huge asset to have this group to bond us together during this time as growing professionals to have someone to lean on that is going through the same hurdles, the hurdles in healthcare now are different than those of past PTs. With fresh new ideas, hopefully, we can put our heads together to solve some of the challenges along the way.

I am always looking for ways to be more active in my profession; this year I am a Northern District Assembly Rep as a small way to start to be more than a member. I was very active with the FPTA as a student and this group is a great next step to carry the momentum forward.

Thanks again EPSIG!!
