About the Meeting

Course Description:

The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of contemporary concepts of the physical therapy management of Low Back Pain, based on current evidence. Concepts of screening for potential adverse outcomes, identification of red flags, and risk-stratification based on the risk of becoming a chronic low back pain patient will be discussed. Intervention strategies based on this risk stratification will be identified, and will include pain neuroscience education, exercise, and manual therapy interventions, based on currently available best evidence.

Course Objectives:

  • Gain an understanding of screening procedures for LBP patients
  • Identify risk-stratification tools, and learn how to apply these tools to identify the need for referral and appropriate levels of physical therapy interventions
  • Understand the role for pain neuroscience education in the management of patients with LBP
  • Understand the level of evidence in the literature for the PT management of LBP
