FPTA Fall Prevention Task Force Update
Share |

The FPTA Fall Prevention Task Force has been advocating for fall prevention among older adult Floridians. The task force has created a database of FPTA members who expressed interest via a member survey in serving older adults as well as the community of our health care colleagues in the area of fall prevention. Currently there are 26 dedicated members who represent all districts in our Fall Prevention Expert database! The FPTA would like to say “Thank you for your service!!” These individuals have agreed to be available to serve the FPTA by providing educational seminars, Lunch N’ Learns and fall risk screenings to those in our state who inquire to the FPTA about fall prevention. Here's some of the amazing work our members have been doing!

Integration with Geriatric Special Interest Group

There is a newly forming Geriatric Special Interest Group (SIG). The work of the FPTA Falls Prevention Task Force will integrate with this SIG and the current members will become members of this SIG. Anyone interested in learning more about the work of the Fall Prevention Task Force and be involved in blazing the trail for the Geriatrics SIG is encouraged to contact Greg Hartley at g.hartley@umiami.edu.

Thank you Task Force

Finally, a very special thank you to the members of the Fall Prevention Task Force is in order. This group was established in 2015 and has done some excellent work during this time. Thank you to all of the Fall Prevention Task Force Members and for the support we have received from Liz Aperauch, Kathy Swanick and Tad Fisher!
