Welcome to PT Month 2017!

Welcome to PT Month 2017! The storms have delayed us slightly, but Floridians are resilient and we forge ahead.

While I am not officially sworn in yet, I am working with the outgoing PR Director and an excellent committee of volunteers to get the word out, and WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Here is a quick rundown on PT month 2017, and what we need from you...

  1. This Saturday, 10/14 is PT Day of Service. The Student SIG is challenging all PTs, PTAs, and students around the state to get out in the community to donate or volunteer time. Take photos of you or your group around the state and post on social media. Help with hurricane clean-up, volunteer for a local health fair, or simply drop off donations at a local shelter or charity. Wear your physical therapy shirts or hold up a CHOOSE PT sign. It does not have to be on the 14th specifically, you can post anytime during the month. Post it on the FPTA Facebook page and your personal social media sites. Get out and show the state who we are. Please use the hashtag #PTDOS when you post.
  2. Throughout the month we will publish patient success stories submitted by members, the first one is included in the October 11 edition of the FPTA Weekly Update. We all have them, so let's tell the world. Jot down a great patient outcome story and send it to the FPTA. Just a short 200-600 word story is perfect. Don't worry about style, we have an editor to make it pretty for you. Feel free to change the patient name for privacy and don't forget to get a release form for your records. Please send your stories ASAP to Liz Aperauch at laperauch@fpta.org.
  3. We are working on TV, radio, and print exposure with public service announcements and PR interviews. If you know any media outlets in your town that would be interested please let Liz know.

I am excited and honored to be working with you, feel free to reach out to me with your ideas and input.

Happy PT Month!
