Medicare Red Tape Relief Project
Share |

The House Ways and Means Health Subcommittee has started an initiative, known as the “Medicare Red Tape Relief Project.”

Chairman Tiberi said, “The Medicare Red Tape Relief Project will help members of our committee work hand-in-hand with doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals to identify areas where we can eliminate red tape and burdensome mandates that are driving up costs in the Medicare program. We will listen to feedback from providers, learn more about the challenges they face, and work to deliver the regulatory relief they need to put patients, not paperwork, first. As the Chairman of the Health Subcommittee, I encourage all stakeholders to participate and I look forward to advancing additional bipartisan solutions that strengthen Medicare for our nation’s seniors.”

The public is encouraged to comment. Following the comment period (which closes 8/25/17), stakeholders will be invited for face-to-face Congressional Meetings which will hopefully result in Congressional legislation. APTA is hoping to be among those invited.

I have spoken with APTA Governmental Affairs about this, and they are already preparing comments. I would LOVE to hear your comments, and I am more than happy to comment on behalf of FPTA. If you have feedback you would like me to consider when I craft a response, please email me directly at g.hartley@miami.edu. Of course, you are welcome (and encouraged) to comment as an individual if you prefer to do it that way.
