  • Members only event, travel reimbursement provided
  • Student registration limited to assure full representation of schools and districts by students

APTA Federal Advocacy Forum

  • March 26-28, 2017
  • Washington, DC
  • Scholarships available, one PT and one PTA student
  • Application notice provided through FPTA Weekly Update, deadline February 3, 2017.

2017 FPTA Spring Conference

  • March 31-April 1, 2017

APTA House of Delegates

  • June 19-21, 2017 (immediately preceding NEXT)
  • Boston, MA
  • Student House Usher program accepting applications beginning in spring
  • Steven Levine APTA HoD Student Grant: Two travel grants of $1,400 are available to one PT and PTA student member to attend
  • Application notice provided through FPTA Weekly Update

APTA NEXT Annual Conference and Expo 

  • June 21-24, 2017
  • Boston, MA
  • Free registration available to first-year postgraduates who renew their membership (see Career Starter Dues program)

District events

  • Offered at the district’s direction throughout the year
  • Often offered at minimal or no charge to students
  • Reference FPTA calendar for individual district events

FPTA Annual Conference & Assembly of Representatives

  • September 14-17, 2017
  • Orlando, FL

Student Assembly Representative Program

  • Held at the FPTA Annual Conference & Assembly of Representatives September 14-17, 2017
  • Lake Mary, FL
  • One student, recommended by the program director, from each program is provided with a free full conference registration and up to $250 in travel reimbursement
  • The requirement is that they participate in a virtual meeting two weeks prior to the Annual Conference, attend the conference, and participate in chapter, district and student caucuses
  • Application notice provided to program directors by email from Liz Aperauch

APTA National Student Conclave

  • October 19-21, 2017
  • Portland, Oregon
  • $1,200 travel grants for one DPT student and one PTA student to attend
  • Application notice provided through the FPTA Weekly Update

Graduation Celebration Events

  • Funds available to help finance purchase of food, drinks and decorations for a celebration for graduating students
  • Participating programs agree to provide at least 30 minutes for a speaker to talk about the benefits of membership in the FPTA sometime before the event.
  • Does not have to be a part of the celebratory event, in fact it’s preferred that it not be so students will be able to concentrate on the message
  • Additional information will be provided to program directors by email from Liz Aperauch

Student Special Interest Group

  • Open to all PT and PTA students, no charge to join
  • Students have the opportunity to learn about leadership and getting started on how to get involved with FPTA events, leadership and networking
  • Opportunities and benefits listed on the FPTA webpage

Early Professional Special Interest Group

  • Open to PT and PTA students in final semester as well as post-graduate PTs and PTAs within five years of graduation, no charge to join.
  • Leadership opportunities continue, enhanced recognition, ongoing support by peers

APTA Services for Students

  • APTA offers a webpage with links to resources and benefits for student members
  • Students can keep up-to-date with events, challenges and involvement opportunities
  • Also provides career resources

Career Starter Dues Discounts

  • APTA and FPTA offer discounts to graduating PTs and PTAs: 50% off first year, 40%, 30$ and 20% of consecutive following years
  • Plus receive a FREE registration to APTA's NEXT Conference & Exposition (up to $580 value)
