General Governance Information

FPTA is a chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association, and an 501c-6 Corporation registered with the Secretary of State's office in Florida.

The chapter members must be members of the APTA, and they elect representatives from each district to the Annual Meeting of the FPTA Assembly of Representatives that is held in conjuction with the FPTA Annual Conrference. The Assembly of Representatives is the policy making body of the association.

The members of the chapter also elect a 17-member board of directors who governs the association and is empowered to transact business on behalf of the association in accordance with Chapter 617 of the Florida Statutes, and in concert with the adopted bylaws of the association.
